Kefalonia, is an island on the Ionian sea full of history and tradition. Is best known for the exotic emerald waters and greenery. The capital of the island is Argostoli. A town filled with small squares, paved alleys that beg to be walked and traditional Ionian architecture splashed with colors that catch the eye. A must visit is the Archaeological Museum, the Folklore Museum, the History Museum and the Theater.
Kefalonia is also known for its culinary scene and lest we forget the famous wine of Kefalonia, Robola. The island skyrocketed in fame, due to the fact, that was the physical film set for the Hollywood movie “Captain Corelli’s Mandolin”. Although a cosmopolitan island and famous world wide, Kefalonia can be a sanctuary to enjoy serene vacations! Other noticeable places to visit is the cave of Melissani, that discovered in 1951. The cave is located in Karavomylos and the scenery is breath taking. In the West of the island, is located the beautiful sea side village of Assos. A place where you can relax, have a dip in the crystal-clear waters and swim next to seals and turtles!
Now let’s talk about beaches!! Like all Greek islands, Kefalonia is nothing sort of beaches. From well-known beaches such as Myrtos, Skala, Makry Gialos etc., to more secluded ones such as Lagadakia beach, Platia Ammos etc….and yes, paradise do exist after spending your time there!
